[Fix] Apex legends Engine Error- DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

Game lovers already have heard about the new battle royale game called Apex legends which is free to play using PC, PS4 and Xbox One. You may have a doubt whether it can outrun Fortnite and PUBG and the answer is its unique features. Hi Myself Peter an addictive game player. Last day while playing the game Apex Legends, I got an engine error message. The game window automatically close after that and I am unable to play the game. I am attaching a copy of the error message in this mail and If you have any idea how to solve this, please do reply.

The error is as follows.

Engine Error – 0x887A0006 – DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG The application’s device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed.

We cannot solve an error by just looking on it. But this warning just remembers me something about the graphics. So I asked Peter to send his system configuration.

Since there is no official statement regarding this issue, the possible way to fix this error is to try whatever you can. Here we have collected some solutions and ideas which are adapted from various tech forums. You can try these methods and check whether it works for you or not. Since the hardware and software configurations are different for different people, the solutions might also be different.

#1:- Nvidia Users Please use 417.71 version of your Graphics driver

This is not a permanent solution. Some people have reported that they started getting this error after upgrading their GeForce game ready driver to 418.81. So one quick method you can try is to downgrade your graphics driver from 418.81 to 417.71. Just uninstall your current drivers and download the old version. install it and run the game using your dedicated Nvidia Graphics card.

#2:- Repair the game

This is another solution which worked for thousands of players. You just need to repair the game and check whether the issue persists. To repair,

Step 1:- Open Origin Tool installed on your PC.

Step 2:- There you can see a number of menu options on the left side. From there click on “My game library“. There you will see the Apex Legends icon.

Step 3:- Right click on the game icon and click on Repair option.

Step 4:- Now you will see a status showing the game repairing itself. Once the repair complete, you will see something like below.

Now close origin and restart your game. Definitely, this will solve errors for many users.
