The term Alphabetize refers to sorting out text in either ascending or descending order based on their first letter. You can sort out a group of text or paragraph either in A-Z format or in Z-A format. This is just similar to the sorting based on numbers. If you are specialized in MS word and other text editors, you will see built-in features to do this job. Whereas in Google Docs, there is no default option to alphabetize text.

How to alphabetize in Google Docs?
Here are the step by step instructions to sort text based on alphabets. You can sort either in ascending or descending order.
Step 1:- Login to your Google Docs account and open the file to sort by alphabets.
Step 2:- Now click on Add-ons –> Get Add-ons. This will list a box where you can search for a particular addon.
Step 3:- Search for “Sorted Paragraphs” and you will get an addon as shown in the below image. Click on the +Free button to add it to your google addon list.
Step 4:- Now you have to authenticate the add-on using your Google account. It is just an automatic procedure and you just need to agree with the terms and conditions to complete the step.
Step 5:- After installing the addon, select the text you want to sort in ascending or descending order based on the alphabet.
Step 6:- Now click on Addon again and you can see addon names “Sorted Paragraphs“. Just right to that, there is the option to sort from A-Z or Z-A.
