WhatsApp: New function to increase the privacy of your chats

WhatsApp maintains end-to-end encryption to protect your chats, images, calls, and video calls. This security setting means that only the sender and receiver have access to the content. This same privacy will also apply to backups.

New WhatsApp privacy feature

WABetaInfo has revealed the new feature in development of WhatsApp, showing the first images of how the new backups will work.

End-to-end encryption came to WhatsApp in 2016. Since then, your chats, photos, videos, calls and all shared information are totally secure. However, the WhatsApp backup that is stored in the cloud is not encrypted and only has a reversible algorithm. Therefore, the messaging app will enforce these privacy settings.

The new backups will also feature end-to-end encryption. The screenshots revealed correspond to the latest beta version for Android and this is how they look:

In the WhatsApp configuration section you will find a new option to protect the history of all your messages and multimedia files stored in the cloud, against possible unauthorized access.

This new tool is still under development, but it is expected to be integrated in the next updates of the app. A step that will help you a lot to keep your stored information secret.
