Alexander Zverev is the new champion in Acapulco, after beating favorite Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. The world number 7 managed to break a streak of five consecutive defeats against Tsitsipas, to claim his first title of 2021 and become the first German to win in Acapulco.

In the first round, the German Alexander Zverev debuted with a victory against the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, the experience prevailed with a resounding score (6-3 6-1).

Other duels that caused a great sensation was the confrontation of the Mexican Gerardo López Villaseñor (4 2) against Dominik Koepfer Dominik (6 6), with a score in favor of the German after two sets. We were also able to enjoy the duel between Marin Cilic (5 2) and Sebastian Korda (7 6) with a victory for the American.

On the second day of activities at AMT 2021, one of the highlights was the departure of one of the favorites, Diego el “Peque” Schwartzman, who fell to the Italian Lorenzo Mussetti with a score of 6-3, 2- 6 and 6-4.
We also live the adrenaline of the duels of Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Benoit Paire, where the winner was the Greek tennis player (6-3 and 6-1). As well as Adrian Mannarino vs Grigor Dimitrov, with a score of 6-4 and 3-0 in favor of the Bulgarian.

On Wednesday, the excitement was overwhelming before the victory of the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas over the American John Isner 6-3, 6-2, achieving his qualification to the quarterfinals, in just 57 minutes. While Alexander Zverev beat Laslo Djere 6-4, 6-3 and achieved his place in the fourth round of AMT 2021.

One of the tournament favorites, Alexander Zverev became the first semi-finalist, after Norwegian Casper Ruud retired due to a right wrist injury, giving his rival the automatic pass. The German had in his sights his goal, to seek his second final after that of 2019.

What awaits us for the Telcel Open 2022?
The Telcel Open will have a new home! Arena GNP Seguros will be the new venue for the tournament from 2022 and will have a capacity for 10,229 people. For now, the site is 24% complete, with the foundation completed and the erection of the first structures.
