It is difficult to photograph a wild animal in its natural habitat. And it is even more complex to capture an iconic moment in the daily life of some living beings: such as when they manage to capture a prey or are prey to a larger animal, while protecting their young or communicating with their species. However, in this process some photographers manage to portray gestures or moments so comical that they are worthy of being awarded for being part of the funniest pictures of the wild animal kingdom.

One of the main reasons why it has become so exotic to see photographs of animals such as the bald eagle, bears, kangaroos, raccoons and various species of cats, is because some of them are in danger of extinction. That is why The Comedy Wildlife was founded to reward those who, through laughter, promote reflection on the care of the world’s flora and fauna.
The finalist photos of the 2021 The Comedy Wildlife contest
Photographers who submit their photos to try to win the contest can enter different categories such as ‘Amazing Internet Portfolio Award’, which consists of a sequence of photographs that tells a comical story, or ‘Creatures Under the Sea Award’, for fans for the marine fauna.
There are also some other categories that follow the comic line of the contest, such as ‘Affinity Photo People’s Choice Award’, the photos chosen by the public with which they feel affinity. It is these types of images that could well become a meme. Just as it could happen with this pigeon and the leaf on its head.
