The details revealed are few, but it is confirmed that Disney + wants to relive the saga in a 10-episode miniseries format; where the protagonist will be a teenager named Jess Morales, who together with a group of friends will venture to discover her mysterious family history and recover the lost treasure.
This new series will feature screenwriters Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who were in charge of writing the first two films. It will be directed by Mira Nair, who has confirmed that the film will be inspired by historical events and will address issues of identity, community, patriotism and historical authorship.
Nicolas Cage will NOT return as Benjamin Franklin Gates
Even though the series of The legend of the lost treasure will resume the work of the scriptwriters, the character who plays Nicolas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates has been removed from the plot, so ultimately we will not see the actor in action again.
However, there is still a thread of hope to see back to Nicolas Cage, as Disney + has not ruled out the possibility of a third movie with the original cast, that includes Justin Bartha and Diane Kruger.
