Samsung updates SmartThings Find to prevent other people from using it for tracking

Samsung has updated its SmartThings Find platform, that allows you to locate lost items, and has equipped it with a new feature that automatically detects if others are using it to track the user’s location.

SmartThings Find already has more than 70 million registered devices, including Galaxy phones and tablets and the SmartTags Devices from Samsung, which can be placed on objects to keep them located, as reported by Samsung through a statement.

Taking advantage of the expansion of the ecosystem, Samsung has integrated the new search function for unknown tags, which can be used to detect the presence of a SmartTag device that moves with the user but it does not belong to him.

In this way, Samsung seeks to prevent its ecosystem from being used for secretly monitor your own users, which you can activate the function by pressing the start button to scan the surroundings.

What’s more, SmartThings has been integrated with Samsung’s own voice assistant, Bixby, with which users can use voice commands to ask where their devices or objects are and receive their location.
