‘Pinocchio’: First Trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Movie Revealed!

The most famous wooden puppet in literature and cinema is back! Mexican director and Oscar winner William of the Bull along with animator and director Mark Gustafson are set to reimagine Carlo Collodi’s classic tale in an animated version titled Pinocchio, under the Netflix original label.

What is it about Pinocchioby Guillermo del Toro?

Guillermo del Toro’s new film reimagines Carlo Collodi’s classic tale about the wooden puppet that magically comes to life to mend the heart of a grieving wood carver named Geppetto. This new version of Pinocchio is an animated musical stop-motion which follows the adventures and mischief of Pinocchio on his quest to find his place in the world.

The teaser its protagonist is Sebastián J. Grillo, who anticipates that the story we are about to see is not like the one we usually know. “Maybe they think they know this story. But it’s not like that, not really.”, says about this peculiar version of the famous wooden puppet. Sebastián also seems to be a very reliable narrator, since he presumes that he literally lived in the heart of the wooden boy.

All-star cast

The new Pinocchio kid movie on Netflix features an all-star cast of English voices. Is about Ewan McGregor like Jiminy Cricket, David Bradley (Harry Potter) as Geppetto and the presentation of Gregory Mann like Pinocchio. The cast also includes the participation of finn wolfhard (Ghostbusters: Legacy), John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman and Oscar winners Christopher Waltz, tilda swinton Y cat Blanchett.

For their part, Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson (Fantastic Mr. Fox) lead. The script was conceived by the Mexican filmmaker together with Patrick McHale (Adventure Time). The production is also by Guillermo del Toro and he is accompanied by Lisa Henson (Jim Henson Company), Alex Bulkley, Corey Campodonico (Shadow Machine) and Gary Ungar. Executive production is provided by Jason Lust.

Pinocchio, by Guillermo del Toro, will premiere on Netflix in December 2022.
