If you share your Netflix account with someone you should be careful, as the company is working to prevent this practice from continuing
From a few months ago Netflix revealed its intention to implement new tools on its service to prevent users from share your account with family and friends.
The Washington Post reported that streaming service platform You are testing a new function to restrict the use of shared accounts.
According to the medium, some users have begun to receive some alert messages to invite people to hire the service and not use the account of a third party who does not live at home.
“If you do not live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to continue viewing”
After receiving this message, Netflix requests that a verification code be entered which is sent to the owner’s email. However, the option to do this procedure later is also generated.
Users using a borrowed account could ask their family member or friend for the verification code and could continue to enjoy the platform content.
According to some users, the idea of Netflix is to prevent share the account with people who do not live in the same address.
“This test is designed to help ensure that people who use Netflix accounts are authorized to do so,” said Ebony Turner, a representative for the company.
Some media have reported that so that people are encouraged to hire the service. The company is offering free trials to new users (as it did before) to encourage people to buy a plan.
“Sharing passwords is estimated to cost streaming services several billion dollars a year in lost revenue”
Netflix reached 200 million users last February and its shares have risen almost 50% in one year.
