How does WhatsApp’s “vacation mode” work?
The main objective of WhatsApp “vacation mode” is to prevent you from receiving notifications about work matters when you are traveling or on vacation. With this new feature, when activated in a specific chat, the conversation is archived and you stop receiving notifications automatically indefinitely. It is ideal for silencing work chats when going on vacation.
These archived chats will have their own section at the beginning of the chat list. Inside it, you can navigate normally and read the messages received whenever you want.
How to activate the “vacation mode” in WhatsApp?
At the moment, the “vacation mode” is only available in the beta version of the app. This means that there is little left for its official launch and that it is available to all users. It is only a matter of waiting a few more weeks, in which the experts fine-tune even the smallest detail.
To activate this functionality and test it before anyone else, you must install the beta version of WhatsApp from Google play and perform these simple steps:
1. Open the application WhatsApp and scroll to the bottom of the chat list.
2. There you will find a section with the name ‘Archived’, where all the chats you have archived will be saved.
3. Enter ‘Archived ‘, tap on the menu at the top right, and then select Archiving settings.
4. Once inside the Archiving settings, you just have to activate the option Keep chats archived and ready.
Once this procedure is done, you will notice that the ‘Archived’ section will move to the top of the chats and that you will no longer receive notifications from them, but there will be an indicator of the messages that you have not read.
