HBO Max will arrive in Europe and Latin America in 2021


Andy Forssell, the platform’s top world leader, announced that by the second half of next year its service will be extended to more countries

Some days ago Warner Bros. announced a new measure for the distribution of its films. Which consists of simultaneously taking the premiere in cinema and in HBO Max.

Specialists pointed out that this new proposal could mark the history of the film industry. This measure was taken in response to the contingency by the Covid-19, which has forced the closure of most of the film complexes.

However, one of the problems is that the platform is not available in all countries. What could mark that the measure did not have the expected results.

That is why it was reported that the WarnerMedia streaming service will expand its coverage. From next year it would be present in more places.

Andy Forssell, the platform’s top world leader, announced that by the second half of 2021 they hope to reach Europe Y Latin America. The executive pointed out that this decision is part of a global strategy with which they plan to reach 190 countries.

Although the arrival date of HBO Max to new markets, specialists have indicated that it is an appropriate measure since it is about locations of great importance for the entertainment industry.


Although the platform will have the advantage of having the premieres of Warner BrosThey must have quality content. Otherwise they will not be able to compete with other platforms that have already been consolidated in Europe and Latin America, such is the case of: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus.

In this sense, Andy Forssell pointed out that they have agreements with large franchises such as New Line Cinema, CNN, TNT, TBS, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth or Looney Tunes.

Besides that they have opted to offer original content, showing content that cannot be found in any other streaming service.
