Cast and story
Falcon, Sam Wilson will have to face whether or not to become the new Captain America after Steve Rogers gave him the shield.
‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ will feature Anthony Mackie as Falcon and Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier. So the story revolves around Bucky and Wilson.
Screenwriter Malcolm Spellman points out that the series will be an antithesis “of WandaVision:
“One thing Marvel knew they wanted before I walked through the door was that they wanted a series with two main friends… Best friend series have no mystery. It’s all about the characters. It’s about the emotion and the connection, or the lack of connection between them, and that’s something I do as a writer and it’s something the genre wants. As surprising as WandaVision is, this is an antithesis in every way. “

For his part, in an interview for ScreenRant, Anthony Mackie spoke about Bucky’s redemption:
“Bucky’s arc is really beautiful and moving, in the way his character comes together and I think his redemption attempt is really what makes this show fly because it’s like nothing we’ve ever seen in MCU.”
At what point in the MCU will ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ happen?
According to Kari Skogland, director of the series, the story will narrate the events that happened six months after the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame ‘. I mean, a couple of months before Spider-Man: Far From Home and months after WandaVision.
The reference is the return of all those who disappeared after the click of Thanos. Things have not yet returned to normal in society, so Skogland stated that choosing that moment was a decision that critically influences the story:
“It meant the shock is over. The joy has been overcome, because we are imagining that there would be much joy with the return of the people. Now we are in reality after that, and it is complicated ”.
While Malcolm Spellman, the main writer of the series, acknowledges that it was a key starting point:
“Part of the statement of intent for this series was that we create heroes today, who can guide us into the future. To do that, they have to deal with problems that ordinary people would understand. And I think anyone who has been living through this pandemic can understand how people in the MCU feel about a global problem where half the population has just reappeared. “
Captain America alive?
Steve Rogers he could be alive, although not as many fans expected. Captain America traveled to the past during Avengers: Endgame and stayed with Peggy Carter. The serum that was injected into him slows down the aging process, so the Rogers who appears sitting on a bench at the end of the film would be the Captain at 106 years old or perhaps he could have traveled in time to appear at the precise moment. This doubt will be resolved in ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’.
In addition to this project, Marvel studios will premiere in June the series Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, if you want to know more about this series, click on this link.
