Facebook’s head of global ads Carolyn Everson is leaving the company.

Everson, who had been at Facebook for more than a decade, has served as the company’s face to major advertisers as vice president of its Global Business Group. Facebook is an advertising giant that is expected to control nearly a quarter of digital advertising spending globally by 2021, according to eMarketer.

“I am extremely proud of what we set out to achieve, but so much more proud of my team and the support we show each other, especially in tough times,” Everson wrote in a post on her Facebook page. “I always said that no one would mention at my funeral the amount of income that I supervised. But I hope someday someone will say that my legacy on Facebook was how I presented myself to my team, to our clients, and to our industry. eager to start a new chapter “.

Everson was a liaison to big-time marketers during major Facebook-related controversies, including a boycott of the platform last summer by major advertisers.

Nicola Mendelsohn, EMEA region director for Facebook’s Global Business Group, will serve as interim leader, a spokeswoman said.

“We wish Carolyn the best as she moves into a new chapter. We are grateful for their contributions, ”a Facebook spokesperson said by email.
