One of the most anticipated sporting events of each year is the CDMX Telcel Marathon, in which runners from all over the republic, families and sports lovers gather in the country’s capital to be part of the marathon or support their favorite competitors. The XXXVIII edition is even more special, since the 2021 CDMX Telcel Marathon arrives after more than a year of waiting.
Date, route and awards of the CDMX Telcel Marathon
The XXXVII edition of the CDMX Telcel Marathon will take place on the day November 28, 2021. The competitors will leave from Ciudad Universitaria and will have the capital’s Zócalo as their goal. It will be the same route that was traveled in 2019, which was intended to reduce the time of the runners by five minutes.
The prize for the winners of the female and male branch will be 550 thousand pesos for the first place, as well as bonuses for those who reach or improve the record times.
On the other hand, the CDMX Half Marathon will take place on the day Decembre 19th, the route will start at the statue of the Horse to finish at the Angel of Independence. The prize for the first place will be 50 thousand pesos.

The registration fee for the marathon is $ 650 pesos, while that of the half marathon has a value of $ 500 pesos.
A marathon with a limited number of participants
After more than a year of interruption, the CDMX Telcel Marathon returns not only with the objective of enhancing Mexican sport, but also of protecting the health of the competitors. For that reason, this time only twenty thousand participants will be able to register.
“The marathon and the half marathon will have the same routes as in 2019, but for security reasons there will be a limit of twenty thousand runners for each event”, Rodrigo Dosal Ulloa, director of the Sports Institute of Mexico City, mentioned.
The call is open to professional runners, standing, in wheelchairs and for people deprived of sight.
“All participants who start and finish the CDMX Telcel Marathon will receive a medal alluding to the Monument to the Revolution, which is the third medal of six that make up the map of Mexico City.”
How to register for the CDMX Telcel Marathon?
If you want to participate in the marathon you can register from the portal maraton.cdmx.gob.mx. Or, if what you want is to be part of the half marathon, you can do it from 21k.cdmx.gob.mx. You can also register to compete in Martí or Sport City stores.
Remember that once you have registered, you must go for your competitor kit, which includes an official race shirt, your competitor number, a chip with an electronic stopwatch, hydration for during and after the race, a medal for participate, a recovery package and your competitor’s insurance.

It will be held in the Pits area of the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome according to the following dates and times:
Thursday, November 25: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday, November 26: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 27: 08:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Half marathon kits delivery:
It will take place in the Weapons Room of Magdalena Mixhuca, according to the following dates:
Friday, December 17: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, December 18: 08:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
How to recover your 2020 medal?
Rodrigo Dosal Ulloa, general director of the Sports Institute, also announced that the recovery of the 2020 Marathon medal, alluding to Chapultepec Castle, can be obtained by running a Marathon virtually by completing your distance in your favorite place from 22 to October 31, running in the following four ways:
- Run 42k in one day
- Run 21k for two days
- Run 10.5k four days
- Run 8.2k five days
The Virtual Marathon has a registration cost of $ 300 pesos, as well as a mini marathon for children and adolescents, whose registration has a cost of $ 200 pesos.
To register, you must first download the official app of the CDMX Telcel Virtual Marathon, available at Google play and App Store. Then follow the step by step:
