Now it will be possible to make payments with the iPhone since Apple wants to turn it into a dataphone and will not require additional hardware

Manzana has always sought to innovate in its products to attract more people. According to a recent report the iPhone will become a dataphone.

That is, the cupertino company will introduce a new service that would allow people to make their Payments without the need for external ‘hardware’ to connect to the phone.

According to Mark Gurman, both home users and small businesses will be able to accept payments.

“The next feature will turn the iPhone into a payment terminal. Enabling users like food stops and hair stylists to accept payments by simply tapping a credit card or another iPhone on the back of their device.”

Currently to do this procedure you need an external payment terminal linked to the phone. But if he iPhone becomes a dataphone you just have to bring the card or other mobile payment-enabled device to the back for it to be effective.

Bloomberg reports indicate that this service has been in development since 2020 when Manzana acquired the Canadian company Mobeewave, developer of the technology that would allow card payments directly on the mobile phone.

“For the iPhone to work as a dataphone, it will only need to include an NFC chip. This component is available on all models starting with the iPhone 6s”

At the moment more details of the service are unknown. Well, it is not known if Manzana will partner with banking entities or activate the feature independently.

It is also not known if businesses will have to register through the ApplePay, or it will be an additional service. What is expected is that the company collects a commission for each sale.

It is speculated that this dataphone function would arrive in a future software update. Even experts point out that it could be in the first beta of iOS 15.4, if so, it would reach users in the spring.
